This process usually involves removing the Rafters, Purlins, & Struts and internal supports.

The ecoTrus system is then installed between the structural load-bearing walls, creating clear structural lanes across the loft space.

Because cut roofs typically have rafters at 400mm centres, there are more connection points across the roof structure, which generally means more steel is required compared to a trussed roof (which is usually built at 600mm centres).

This can make cut roof conversions slightly more material-intensive.

This means:

• The existing roof can usually remain in place
• Traditional large steel arrangements are avoided
• Installation is faster and more predictable
• The loft structure becomes fully engineered and independent

Only areas such as dormers or stair openings typically require local roof alterations.
